Drive-by shooting of a different kind at NSB gas station

NSBNews.net was involved in a drive-by shooting at the Mystic gas station as well, but we were not armed with a handgun. We had a small hand-held digital camera. The kind with rapid fire response.

Congressional politics and gas prices a costly formula

What can be done about out of control gas prices and many goods and services?

It's not only at the pumps, we are also paying higher prices on home energy, groceries and clothing.

Why?

Truckers are paying $5. a gallon for diesel fuel, while the farmer uses fertilizer and gas to run their tractors which are petroleum-based products.

Absolved to present a higher standard

In every day of our life, we scurry here and there hoping to get where ever it is we are going. And of course, we must be on time. And sure enough, we eventually do get there!

And upon our arrival, all things seem to be correct and in order; as this is the way of life in which we live. Just to “get,” we must have the “mental strength” to sustain, let alone having the “correct attitude!”

Phony educators close two schools and fire 220 teachers

I am watching in horror as reduced funding and a contracting economy cut into educational budgets across the country. This is not election year bleating about draconian cuts to future increases but real money.

The checkbook might be extinct in today's world

Check or check card? How many people reading this column still use checks at the grocery store? Is this out of convenience or because this is what you are to  doing?

Death Penalty no longer at play for Virginia Larzelere in 1991 shotgun slaying of her Edgewater dentist-husband, Dr. Norman Larzelere.

DAYTONA BEACH -- Virginia Larzelere, the condemned mastermind behind the 1991 shotgun slaying of her Edgewater dentist-husband for a $2.1 million life insurance payout was all smiles Friday at the Justice Center because even though she was sentenced to life in prison, the death penaty was no longer at play.

As if that was not reason enough to smile, Larzelere, now 55, could get out of prison in eight years or even sooner because of gain time under the old Florida sentencing guidelines that were in effect at the time of her conviction.
