NSB COPS: Woman passenger first biker fatality on beachside's Atlantic Avenue

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A woman on the back of a motorcycle whose operator collided with another biker going in the same direction on the beachside's Atlantic Avenue, became the first Bike Week-related fatality.

A woman passenger on the back of a motorcycle was killed when that bike's operator and another motorcycle going in the same direction northbound on South Atlantic, at the intersection with 5th Avenue on the beachside, collided about 4:30 p.m., New Smyrna Beach police said, with the man and woman being thrown from the bike.

Continue boycott of Citgo or Petro Express gas stations to stop Chavez aggression

A few months back I wrote to ask you out there to boycott all Citgo gas stations because of ownership by Venezuela and the anti-American stance of its strongman, Hugo Chavez. Since then the issue has gotten much worse. If you don't know, these gas stations are owned by Venezuela. It's Chavez who hates the Unites States and bashes our president.

Rain and cold put damper on second day of biker rally

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Temperatures barely got above 50 on a mostly-rainy Saturday, making the second of 10 days of Bike Week a washout. On Sunday, however, temperatures are expected to climb to a more seasonable 61 degrees with sunny skies in greater New Smyrna Beach, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

300 turn out for Relay for Life event

A fundraiser was held Saturday at SoNapa Wine Co. by the Team Ocean Walkers for Relay for Life. The overflowing crowd spilled out into the front of the Third Avenue winery with some 300 people showing up.  Mac McClelland, whose wife, Sue, organized the event, said theit team hoped to raise $2,500 during the three-hoursocial gathering.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- SoNapa Wine Co. provided the wine. Ocean Walk provided the cheese. The wine went much further and for a good cause Saturday: A fundraiser for Relay For Life.
