NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Some 35,000 to 40,000 people flocked to the Images art festival over the weekend, local architect Gerard J. Pendergast estimated during the waning hours Sunday, despite rain on Saturday and the colder weather Sunday.
"It's an excellent event," said Pendergast, a member of the board of directors for the Atlantic Center for the Arts, having purchased a painting himself during the waning hours Sunday for a local charity. "It's a jurored show," he added, pointing out that $100,000 in prize money was doled out to top art work.
