It's lawsuits galore in New Smyrna Beach

It seems that our City is a magnet for lawsuits.

We have the Judge (Nahum) Litt's lawsuit for "freedom of information act", the Alexander "building suit", the Volusia County "Homebuilders suit" and the suit of the contractor on the 3rd Ave. new fire station.

Are there any more out there? Let me know if I missed any, O.K.?

Now the big problem: We have a City Attorney in Frank Gummey who makes what a federal judge makes and has a $500,000 buyout.

Most, if not all, will be won by the people whom have filed the lawsuits against our fine City. Who do you think will pay for all this? We the Taxpayers! Incompetence to the max.

It is time to get rid of Gummey and the "people Commissioners" making these stupid decisions that "open" us up to these lawsuits. A modest estimate on all these lawsuits, I think will be a "cool million."

Big screw-ups, big money, incompetent city employees, and Bad News and Big Money to the taxpayers! I do not want to pay for this mess, do you?

Editor's Note: City Attorney Frank Gummey is not the culprit for these lawsuits. He's merely the city's legal representative in dealing with them. The lawsuits arose from political decisions prior to the November elections and the seating of the city commission with two new members.
