300 attend ribbon cutting for Burns Sci-Tech Charter School in Oak Hill

Principal Jan McKee leads a ribbon cutting Tuesday for the Burns Science and Technology Charter School, 160 Ridge Road in Oak Hill, which welcomes 270 k-8th grade students on Monday.
OAK HILL -- With blue skies and a large tent to provide some relief from the hot sun, upwards of 300 people were welcomed Tuesday by Principal Jan McKee to the Burns Science Technical Charter School.

"This is the best thing that has happened to us in years and we want everyone to know about and (to) support us at the school," Oak Hill City Commissioner and Vice Mayor Linda Hyatt told NSBNews.net after the ribbon cutting festivities.
Among other dignitaries there were Oak Hill Mayor Mary Lee Cook and Commissioners Kathy Bittle and Doug Gibson as well as State Sen. Evelyn Lynn and County Council member Joie Alexander.
Hyatt, in particular, was impressed with the turnout, saying the "citizens came out to witness the transformation from school skeleton to pretty classrooms."
