Mitt Romney asks Ormond Beach crowd: 'Are you ready to send Barack Obama home?

Frontrunner calls Gingrich 'Washington insider'

ORMOND BEACH -- Like clockwork, Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney arrived at 6 p.m. to a raucous crowd 2,500 supporters with an opening question: "Are you ready to send Barack Obama home from the White House?" The crowd roared with a yes.

"This is a decision point for this country," Romney said, adding Obama represents big government while he supports one that is small and simple. "If I'm president of the United States, we'll get rid of Obamacare," Romney said, drawing an even bigger roar.

Then Romney turned his attention to his chief rival Newt Gingrich, who beat him a day earlier in South Carolina, describing him as weak house speaker and a Washington insider.

“At the end of four years it was proven that he was a failed leader. And he had to resign in disgrace,” Romney said at the Allstar Building Materials lumberyard. “I don’t know whether you knew that. He actually resigned after four years in disgrace.”

Romney continued, "He talks about great, bold movements and ideas. Well, what’s he been doing for 15 years? He’s been working as a lobbyist, yeah. He’s been working as a lobbyist and selling influence around Washington.”
