Winn-Dixie to close one store in Deltona; NSB and Edgewater stores spared as part of major restructuring

DELTONA -- The Winn-Dixie at 1200 Deltona Blvd. is among 30 stores in the Southeast that are closing as part of a restructuring, the Jacksonville-based grocery giant announced Thursday.

The Winn-Dixie on State Road 44 in New Smyrna Beach and the store on U.S. 1 in Edgewater are not affected by the closings, which are expected to be completed by Sept. 22, the company said in a press release.

"I do get calls almost daily from someone stating they received a check in the mail or by courier to compensate them for being a shopper or for something for sale," Ford said, adding he believes the attached alert contains very beneficial information "to know (how) to better protect themselves from these fraudsters."

PORT ORANGE -- Belk will hold its annual Spring Charity Sale Saturday to benefit local charities, schools and nonprofit organizations throughout the company's 16-state market area, including the local Belk at the Pavilion at Port Orange.

A $5 ticket entitles customers to merchandise discounts ranging from an extra 20 to 70 percent on items throughout the store, including special savings on rarely discounted brands. Customers will also receive $5 off their first purchase of $5 or more at the event, and Belk cardholders will receive double Rewards points (and Belk Elite cardholders triple Rewards points) for card purchases.

The first 100 customers in each store will receive free Belk gift cards, ranging in value from $5 to $100, and a chance to win one of three $1,000 Belk gift cards being awarded company-wide.

Over the past six months, total passenger traffic has increased an average of 13 percent per month over the same period last year.
